சமையலின் போது வாசனைக்காக பயன்படுத்தப்படும் ஏலக்காய் வாசனைப்பொருட்களின் அரசி என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறது. அசைவ உணவில் இதைச் சேர்த்தால் அதன் ருசியே தனிதான்! செரிமான சக்தியைக் கூட்டி, பசியைத் தூண்டுவதில் ஏலக்காய் முக்கிய பங்கு வகிக்கிறது. வாசனைப் பொருளாக பயன்படுத்தப்படும் ஏலக்காயில் மருத்துவ குணம் நிறைந்துள்ளது. இதில் கனியும் விதைகளும் மருத்துவப் பயன் கொண்டவை.

விக்கல் போக்கும்
வெயிலில் அதிகம் அலைவதால் வரும் தலைசுற்றல், மயக்கத்திற்கு ஏலக்காய் சிறந்த மருந்தாகும். நான்கைந்து ஏலக்காய்களை நசுக்கி, அரை டம்ளர் தண்ணீரில் போட்டு, கஷாயமாகக் காய்ச்சி, அதில் கொஞ்சமாக பனைவெல்லம் போட்டு குடித்தால் தலைசுற்றல் உடனே நீங்கும். விக்கலை உடனே நிறுத்தும் சக்தி ஏலக்காய்க்கு உண்டு. இரண்டு ஏலக்காய்களை நசுக்கி, அத்துடன் நான்கைந்து புதினா இலைகளைப் போட்டு, அரை டம்ளர் தண்ணீரில் நன்கு காய்ச்சி, வடிகட்ட வேண்டும். மிதமான சூட்டில் இந்தக் கஷாயத்தைக் குடித்தால், விக்கல் உடனே நின்றுவிடும். வாயுத் தொல்லையால் அவதிபடுகிறவர்கள் , கூச்சமின்றி நாடவேண்டிய மருந்து ஏலக்காய். ஏலக்காயை நன்கு காயவைத்து பொடியாக அரைத்துக்கொள்ள வேண்டும். இந்தப் பொடியில் அரை டீஸ்பூன் எடுத்து, அரை டம்ளர் தண்ணீரில் கொதிக்கவிட வேண்டும். உணவு உட்கொள்வதற்கு முன்பாக, இந்த ஏலக்காய் தண்ணீரைக் குடித்தால் வாயுத்தொல்லை எப்போதும் இருக்காது.
குழந்தைகளுக்கு அரு மருந்து
